Solenopsis Xyloni

The information is limited. We apologize if we didn’t cover everything.     Solenopsis xyloni are one of the few native solenopsis species in North America. They are native to the areas of CA, NV, UT, CO, AZ, NM, TX, AR, LS, AL, MS, GA, FL, and parts of lower Mexico. Solenopsis xyloni usually nest in areas such as under stones, under logs, and fields. So we have tried to replicate this for this amazing species! The new grout Formicaria me, Andrew, and Justin are working on. The nest will be just perfect for Solenopsis species and other species. Solenopsis xyloni are very aggressive and will attack other species of insects and ants. Just like Solenopsis invicta and Solenopsis geminata they can DESTROY agricultural materials and machines. Due to the Solenopsis species love of electrical currents, they will go into outlets and cause blackouts. Solenopsis xyloni are a very interesting species to keep. Solenopsis xyloni is commonly known as the Southern Fire Ant. Now back to the literal part of ant-keeping… Solenopsis xyloni is about 0.1-0.18 inches. Solenopsis xyloni LOVE sweets like any other Solenopsis species. They love honey, sugar water, nectar, hummingbird nectar, syrup and chocolates. For protein, you should feed them crickets, cockroaches, grasshoppers, mealworms, superworms, grubs, waxworms, and fruit flies. Sometimes Solenopsis xyloni will consume seeds. Solenopsis xyloni will not hibernate due to their climate and region. Solenopsis xyloni will fly during June-October.  Due to the short amount of ant-keepers that keep this species.
